Folliculitis is the medical term for infected, inflamed hair follicles that leave patches of pimple-like bumps on your skin. Like with acne, benzoyl peroxide can ease the bumps—try using benzoyl peroxide in the shower before you shave, suggests Dr. Vimal Kishore Rai, MBBS.

Some folliculitis comes directly from shaving—you might know it better as razor bumps, says Dr Rai. Being gentle during hair removal will prevent razor burn and get rid of strawberry legs, so avoid harsh techniques like epilators she suggests. You should also be careful with the products you use when shaving, adds Dr. Shamban. “Don’t get lazy and use soap before shaving; use a moisturizing shave cream,” she says.

People with strawberry legs can also use a 1 percent hydrocortisone cream after shaving. And be sure to change your razor regularly, because dull razors are more likely to nick your skin and cause irritation.

What Is Coronavirus (COVID-19)?

A coronavirus is a type of virus that often occurs in animals. Sometimes, it can spread to humans.
Coronavirus symptoms can include fever, cough, shortness of breath. The symptoms may appear two to 14 days after coming in contact with the virus.
The virus is spread through coughing and sneezing. The coronavirus may also live on surfaces that people have coughed and sneezed on. If you touch a surface with the virus on it and then touch your mouth, nose or eyes, you may get sick.

How Can I Avoid Getting Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Infections?

The steps you take to avoid the flu will also help protect you from the coronavirus:

1) Wash your hands often with soap and warm water for 20 to 30 seconds, always after coughing or sneezing. If you don’t have running water, use an alcohol-based hand cleanser that is at least 60% alcohol.
2) Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
3) Stay away from people who are sick.
4) Don’t share makeup, food, dishes or eating utensils.
5) Wearing a mask will provide only slight protection. It is more important to wash your hands often, ideally with soap and water for 20-30 seconds. But if soap and water are not available, then hand sanitizer is okay.

An allergic reaction from makeup, or allergic contact dermatitis, often appears as red, itchy and flaky rashes that can even crack or appear as blisters in the most severe cases (when infected, for example), explains Raipur Skin Dr. Vimal Kishore Rai.

Aside from these, Dr. Vimal Kishore Rai. also lists the following ingredients found in makeup as common causes of skin irritations and allergies:

Lanolin or Wool Alcohols: Used as an emollient and lubricant, often found in foundations, eye shadows, blushes, mascaras, eyeliners, moisturizers, face masks, lipsticks and lip balms.
Nickel: A common contaminant found in pigments that are used in eye shadows, hair dyes, costume jewelry and antiperspirants.
Methylisothiazolinone (MIT) and Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCT): Antibacterial and anti-fungal preservatives found in mascara, makeup remover, liquid soaps, cleansers and other personal care products.
Balsam of Peru: A fragrant resin, with a scent similar to that of vanilla and cinnamon, typically added to essential oils, hair products, baby powders and sunscreens.

“Place a small amount of the product on the inside of your elbow and wait 48 to 72 hours. If you experience redness, sf you experience redness, swelling, itching or burning, do not use that product,” he warns.
“Expensive doesn’t always mean better. The most important thing to do is to check the list of ingredients on labels and become informed about certain ingredients and what they do.”
